The Middle Primary Skill Builder Literacy Course focuses on core Literacy skills using Haileybury’s Explicit Instruction model of teaching and learning. Lessons will be structured using the I Do, We Do, You Do explicit instruction framework, incorporating teacher modelling of skills, concepts and self-talk, teacher-led guided practice and independent practice.

Students will engage in daily reading, spelling, grammar, punctuation and writing focus sessions. In reading, students will build decoding and fluency skills. Intensive daily text analysis will focus on literal, inferential and critical reading comprehension strategies and higher order thinking.
