It's a pathway designed for those who want to enrich their VCE program, and access specialised subjects that may not be on offer at their current school. With this innovative approach, students can fully immerse themselves in a subject they're passionate about, while still enjoying the support and resources of a comprehensive school environment.

VCE single subject program requirements

  • Students must be enrolled in a VCE program at another school to be eligible for this pathway, and can undertake a maximum of two subjects at a time through Haileybury Pangea.
  • Students are required to meet prerequisites for their selected VCE courses.
  • Students must provide school liaison details from your home school upon enrolment to ensure administrative requirements are met. This is normally a VCE Coordinator.
  • Students must maintain a commitment to attending classes, completing assignments and participating actively in the chosen subject.
  • The General Achievement Test and VCE Units 3 and 4 examinations are undertaken at the student’s home school.

Does my ATAR score increase as a result of studying additional subjects?

Yes. ATAR aggregates include the top four scaled study scores (including an English study), along with 10 per cent of the fifth and sixth highest subject scores. You can learn more about this here.

Is it possible to enrol at Haileybury Pangea if my child is currently studying VCE elsewhere?

For mid-term enrolments, we encourage students and families to contact our Admissions and Course Advisor to discuss suitability and ensure all requirements can be met for successful course completion.

My child only needs to do 1 or 2 subjects next year to complete VCE. Can they do this with Haileybury Pangea as their home school?

Students wishing to undertake between 1-3 VCE courses with Haileybury Pangea as their home school may be eligible for the part-time VCE pathway. It is important to note that students commencing with Haileybury Pangea must be no older than 18 years at the start of the academic year.

Does Haileybury Pangea prepare children for the UCAT's?

Haileybury Pangea full-time and part-time students have access to our Careers program and personalised support from Careers counsellors.

Typically, what time are lessons and how does this integrate into a student's timetable?

Students undertaking a VCE course at Haileybury Pangea have two 50-minute live lessons each week, typically a double lesson.

These may take place during the school day or after school hours; we thus encourage students undertaking a VCE Single Subject with Haileybury Pangea to discuss this with their home school liaison (such as a VCE Coordinator) to ensure that appropriate arrangements can be made for the student to attend these live virtual lessons.

What has been the average ATAR for those that have studied at Haileybury Pangea?

Haileybury Pangea’s first cohort of Year 12 students will graduate in 2023, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements.

If Haileybury Pangea is the home school for a student studying English, where does the student sit the exam?

Students undertaking a part-time VCE (between 1-3 subjects, with Haileybury Pangea as the home school) will undertake their examinations at an approved VCAA examination centre – typically, a Haileybury campus.

What is the due date to apply for a VCE subject for the following year?

We encourage students interested in undertaking a VCE course at Haileybury Pangea to apply as soon as possible via our website, so that they can undertake important admissions steps include online benchmark testing.

Students who enrol in a VCE Single Subject also have the option to commence their studies with Haileybury Pangea in Term 1A in mid-November. Students can also commence their studies from the start of the academic year in January.
