Meet Angela, a remarkable young pianist with lofty goals. At just 11 years old, Angela is already setting herself apart as an aspiring pianist with exceptional talent. She is hosting her own recitals, performing with international Philharmonic Orchestras, and advancing rapidly through her musical qualifications far ahead of many of her peers.

Angela’s journey with the piano began at the young age of five and a half years. Her curiosity for music led her to explore a range of instruments before she discovered her true passion. “The moment I sat down at the piano, the search completely ended. Everything just clicked, and for the first time, I felt an incredible connection and realised I had a natural talent for it,” Angela recalls.

In the short time since discovering her love for the piano, Angela has achieved remarkable milestones. One of her most memorable experiences was performing a concerto with the Bulgarian Philharmonic Orchestra. “Playing the solo piano part alongside the orchestra was an incredible experience, and feeling the powerful synergy of all the musicians was unforgettable,” she says.

Angela’s talent and commitment have also seen her recently host and perform at her own recital at the David Li Sound Gallery at Monash University, where she had the opportunity to share her passion with others. Among her favourite pieces is Frédéric Chopin’s ‘Grande Valse Brillante,’ Op. 18, a work she finds lively, elegant and full of energy. “It’s a brilliant and challenging piece, which makes it joyful and rewarding to perform,” she shares.

Balancing her musical pursuits with academic studies has been an important focus for Angela. After joining Haileybury Pangea, Angela found that the flexibility of online learning allowed her to fully focus on both the piano and her education. “The online learning environment enables me to balance my academic studies with an intensive music schedule. I was also pleasantly surprised by how engaging and interactive online classes can be, and how easy it is to build meaningful connections with teachers and classmates,” Angela explains.

Her mother, Lily, notes the positive impact this balance has had: “Angela is becoming much better at managing and organising her own time which are valuable life skills that will set her up for success.”

Looking ahead, Angela’s year is filled with major plans. She aims to complete her Licentiate Diploma examination, continue expanding her solo repertoire, and further develop her technical and artistic skills. She is also excited to participate in two collaborative concerts, which will give her valuable ensemble experience.

Into the future, Angela’s aspirations continue to increase. She hopes to pursue a professional career as an international concert pianist and to study at a leading music conservatory. Alongside her passion for music, she is also interested in law and hopes to undertake a double degree in Music and Law at university.

Angela’s inspiring journey is a testament to her dedication, talent and unwavering pursuit of her dreams, both on the stage and beyond.
