VCE Music: Contemporary Performance develops intellectual, aesthetic and cultural understanding through the practical development of instrumental ability. Music: Contemporary Performance is ideally suited to musicians/students whose repertoire is typically framed on, but not limited to: improvisation, where recordings are the primary reference source (most contemporary music), and the development of a personal musical character (group and/or solo contexts). Performance development across the subject examines stylistic conventions and performance practices central to the student’s area of performance interest.
